ABOUT:

Founded in 2004, Black Shadow Films, LLC is a student run production company in Northern California. Since its inception, Black Shadow Films has created a diverse body of award-winning short films. With narratives as light as comedies Decision Day: The Musical and Heart Attack, to quirky tales such as Johnny Goner in between, the filmmakers explore different genres and styles. Black Shadow Films was founded by David Harris and Forrest Tiffany. Today David Harris leads an accomplished group of student filmmakers.

Black Shadow Films makes a strong effort to reach out into the community: we help adults and fellow students commemorate their experiences, advertise, or incorporate film in projects.

MISSION:

The main goal of Black Shadow Films is to create high quality, entertaining, and intruiging narrative films using student filmmakers. By exploring varying ideas, approaches, and technology, and works that appeal to broad audiences, the students will learn and develop as filmmakers. Additionally, freelance videography is done to finance our films, satisfy community needs, and further expand skills.

WHO:

Student David Harris, the producer and director of all projects, is the driving force behind Black Shaodow Films. His work as writer, editor, and cinematographer is augmented by such collaborators as Rogier van Beeck Calkoen, Amsterdam based student who has come to America to serve as cinematographer on Heart Attack and Johnny Goner and NYU Tisch writing program student Jenny Jaffe who wrote Johnny Goner. For individual projects, these and other talented students have been joined by professional actors including Najarra Townsend, a rising star who had a lead role in the Sundance Audience Award Winner Me, You, and Everyone We Know and Damara Reilly, who's had guest starring roles in hit shows from CSI to Fraisier. Crews combine experienced filmmakers and interested students. To complete our projects we've added composers Riekes Center guru Drew Annis, Julliard student Trevor Doherty, and NYU grad Kenyatta Beasley, among others.

DAVID HARRIS, 18, is an award-winning producer with experience in film and digital video production, graphic design, and business management. In 2000, at age eight, David created his first films and immediately the filmmaking bug bit him. Since then David has produced films in 16mm, High Definition, and digital video formats. Committed to extending his knowledge of filmmaking, he has attended multiple film schools and taken classes of diverse subject matter. His other interests and accomplishments include Student Government and leadership roles, journalism, and freelance videography. David graduated from Menlo School with Faculty Honors in 2010 and attends Northwestern University in Evanston, IL.
