For Immediate Release:

Recently, I have been frequently approached to speak towards my reaction towards the Virginia Tech shootings, as Lockdown, is indeed about a school shooting.

Today, April 19, I talked with administrators at Menlo School for a couple hours about whether I still felt it was appropriate to screen my film at a school film festival less than a week after this tragic accident.

It is impossible to watch Lockdown with the same eyes that we had a week ago. The film has taken on a new layer of depth and emotion that it did not previously have; it could not have been more prophetic.

Nevertheless, I feel that this only makes the film strive all the more and makes it all the more provocative.

The film is not grotesque and the twist ending is meant not for shock value or to rush you with adrenaline due to thrill, but instead, the film is intended to make you understand the true danger of school shootings and understand this serious issue.

Finally, I would like to conclude that I, David Harris, am not a violent person and in no way whatsoever do the characters’ actions and feelings express my emotions, intentions, or perspectives. As cliché as it sounds, I am a happy person.

I wish to express my sincere condolences to the victims’ families and all those who suffered due to this tragic accident.

Regretfully,

David Harris
